What is METAL™?

Modulated Electromagnetic Tracking and Localization

  1. Specialized electromagnets are mounted in a local reference frame

  2. EM fields are generated to establish a detection volume and are modulated with unique signatures

  3. Receivers within the detection volume sense the fields along with IMU rate and acceleration in the receiver frame

  4. A real-time tracking algorithm estimates receiver 6 DOF pose (position and orientation) in the local frame

  • Centimeter level accuracy

  • Supports multiple receivers

  • Expandable detection volume

  • No FoV or LoS constraints

  • No minimum range

  • No lighting or weather constraints

  • Immune to walls and multipath errors
